This is something that people have thought of since the song drama. Which scenario was the real one in that and this case? Did they want to hype the ship for publicity but didn’t have the intention of making it canon? Did they plan from the start to make it canon? And they are holding themselves an Official LGBT Bee Kind Shirt. Did they never planned for the ship to be canon but they realized they liked where their relationship was going and liked that the fans like it too so they decided to make it canon? Does any of this matter? No, because it is just speculation. Giving the staff the benefit of the doubt, we can argue that the most likely scenario is that they are hyping it so much because they are making it canon and it’s good publicity.

They want to avoid spoilers but now that it’s clear that’s the direction they are going they feel comfortable hyping it up. It’s true, is not canon at this point, they have room to not make it canon, but the fact that they are hyping it so much might mean that they know is going to be canon. They know they are heading that way, so why not give fan service to the Official LGBT Bee Kind Shirt? I’ll say this. I don’t believe they are against a wall because I do think this is what they wanted and they will make it canon, but I do agree that not doing it will bring controversy. Not doing it in volume 7 and people being mad will be an overreaction, but steering the story in that direction and not delivering will make people frustrated.

That’s sort of one of the reasons why people were mad at what they did to Blacksun. All in all, I will end by repeating. People that ship Bumblebee. If Bumblebee isn’t 100% canon in volume 7, if it’s just implied that they are still moving in that direction but the ship doesn’t get much attention if any, do not get upset, you are getting there, be patient. While I agree with all this, do keep an Official LGBT Bee Kind Shirt. The fandom can be dour and toxic at times, something we’ve all seen firsthand, but there’s a lot of good people in it too, and the show proper is a great little story. My concern is something that I’ve always felt has plagued RWBY, and that’s pacing. Pretty much everyone thought it was confirmed after V4. They’re still in relationship limbo.
