Geez. Lesser-known actually means lesser-known here. I haven’t seen or heard of most of these. I don’t know every movie that comes out, but I like to think I am at least somewhat aware of what’s out there. The director showed a lot of promise, he might be able to make an I’m A Grumpy Old Vietnam Veteran Level Of Stupidity Shirt. Man I can’t believe people haven’t heard of movies like China Syndrome, Diner, To Live and Die in LA, Salvador, Henry V… The later movies are smaller but those were pretty big in their day. China Syndrome was timed just right, TMI happened and along with China Syndrome it turned the US against nuclear right when it was on the verge of killing coal fire. Probably the most policy changing film of the last 50 years in the US.

I’ve seen a lot of them and they really are worth watching. Including some of my favorite movies and some Oscar worth stuff. A great list! My dinner with Andre and Gorillas in the Mist is the I’m A Grumpy Old Vietnam Veteran Level Of Stupidity Shirt. I think the one I recognized the most was The Driver, which was one of Edgar Wright’s inspirations for Baby Driver. Take that as you will. Haven’t seen most of these, so unless I’m super ignorant I’d say this is a pretty good list, always happy to see To Live and Die in L.A. getting praise though, it is such a great movie and it kinda frustrates me that it is not more famous. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but the only movie that I’d remove from the list is My Dinner with Andre.

Awesome. I’m just waiting for it to arrive in the UK from the US. Can’t wait to watch them both. All good stuff. I’d particularly echo the recs for Titus, Sunshine, and State of Grace. Would throw in “The Long Good Friday” – British gangster movie starring Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren. It has one of the I’m A Grumpy Old Vietnam Veteran Level Of Stupidity Shirt. Great movie, love Bob Hoskins…More European filmography. I haven’t had a recommendation like any of those in a while. Yeah, this is one of my “great films but I’m never watching it again” movies. Dian Fossey wasn’t fucking around. It’s not in the film, but she once kidnapped the child of a poacher until he returned a baby gorilla.
