Actually a little mad that Songs for the Deaf isn’t on the top 100 albums of the 2000s. Definitely was a hit. Or no Alice In Chains in the 90s. Dirt should definitely be there. QOTSA’s debut is actually my favorite by them and one of my all-time favorite albums. Songs for the Deaf is great as well though. Surprised to see no Blur on the Pretty Kanye West Never Heard Of Her Smile Shirt. I think they’ve missed out on a lot of great British music in the 90s. No Stone Roses songs, Wonderwall which wouldn’t even crack the top 10 Oasis songs, lack of Blur, and no Manic Street Preachers at all. They definitely should’ve included more prog. I’d have put Animals by Pink Floyd, Out of the Blue by ELO.

Why is the black album aka self-titled by Metallica so low? It’s one of the top 20 best selling albums of all time and is barely top 20 for the 90s. Doesn’t make any sense. I can’t even think of the criteria they used. It’s all over the place. If you are going by critical acclaim half the Pretty Kanye West Never Heard Of Her Smile Shirt. In terms of impact, I don’t think Prince’s Dirty Mind really belongs. That seems more like giving it retroactive oomph only after having considered 1999 and Purple rain. Had he not done those, I don’t think anybody would be putting Dirty Mind on a list like this. I think the same could be said for Sign O the Times. I think it had a good couple or three songs that were fun to hear on the radio.

But the masterpiece days were done at that point. I remember wanting it to be better as I trudged through the album. It’s not like he was less talented. But the nexus of genius and pop appeal seemed to have come unglued. And things had descended to a more moderate level of mainstream appeal. A good or good-ish pop song on the Pretty Kanye West Never Heard Of Her Smile Shirt. And when people imitate prince even today, like on SNL or something. They imitate the Purple Rain era prince, not his various increasingly weirdo phases that came after that. Purple Rain on the other hand is a giant and a phenomenon, one of the true and defining giants of the decade.
