I actually recommend people play the story mode of SOMA with no combat for that reason. SOMA was such a mindfuck, I still think about the ending at times. I played it a second time just making opposite decisions to see what subtle consequences happen. That said, the thing I disliked about the game I disliked even more in the second playthrough: The forced stealth horror segments. Another random guy here but definitely 100% worth playing. When I first finished SOMA the reality hit me hard enough that I didn’t like the game at first. After a couple of years, I played it again and will agree that it’s one of my favorite games PERIOD. Amnesia’s ending wasn’t even that great IMO. I still think Penumbra is Frictional’s best game/series. Amnesia had a good atmosphere, but I think Penumbra was all-around better in every way. That was honestly even scarier, IMO. The monsters were pretty Hunny Winnie The Pooh 94Th Anniversary 1926 2020 Thank You For The Memories Shirt. They feel even scarier because they just kinda stare at you and walk towards you. You know they can’t hurt you, but it still feels really creepy.
