This was my friend who borrowed his dad’s pack from about 30 years ago, and from what he said it was very much so. Especially when wet for about 5 days straight, lots of blisters. The biggest thing is catching the blisters early, doing a good tape job, and using liner socks. You can’t prevent all the blisters, but you can really minimize them with the proper prevention and catching them when they’re just hot spots. That’s a sweet old-school external-frame pack. I don’t know that I’d ever go back to using one, but I still have a fondness for them. I like them, use one to haul climbing gear.
