I like where you’re going. I definitely had never heard of LSJU until I Wikipedia it. And I guess for some schools there are no correct initials – so I had to use my judgment. I could throw in FSU Florida vs. Fresno FSU if people want that. I’ll do it if this comment gets 10 upvotes, let’s say. Yeah, some schools don’t like some of their possible initialisms. UCLA, on the other hand, seems to use its initialism for absolutely everything short of the most formal occasions. When the new chancellor arrived in 2016, he totally rebranded the place (among many other things he did to help fix up the school). He changed the official branding of the university to UA Little Rock. His reasoning (at least, what he told us) was that when he went to recruit students or athletes in places like Dallas. The students had never heard of UALR, even though it was only a 4-hour drive away. They would ask “Where is UALR?” By rebranding to UA Little Rock, the Love Arizona State University ASU Bee Heart Shirt. They also rebranded the athletics team name (like you might see on the scoreboard at the bottom of the screen during a basketball game on TV) from the UALR Trojans to the Little Rock Trojans.

Fun story on that topic – When I first started teaching at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2015, it was known as UALR. That was the official branding for both the university and the sports teams, and everyone around town called it that, usually pronouncing the acronym as if it were a word. The reason I did that was that I did not – at the time. Realize that Stanford University was a nickname. I was trying to avoid using nicknames. That’s why I didn’t call Ole Miss OMU or Fresno State FSU. I don’t think that LSJU is very well-known, whereas most people who know about the Love Arizona State University ASU Bee Heart Shirt.
