It’s not really a new tax, it’s just saying that sales tax now applies to digital purposes. It levels the playing field for brick-and-mortar businesses to compete with the Good Plan For Today Coffee Motor Beer And Sex Shirt. I guess I’m confused bc I was always charged a 6% sales tax on Amazon purchases. And for Spotify membership. And for Netflix too. So you were being charged sales tax by Amazon for physical purchases. The new tax is on digital purchases like if you purchased a video game online and downloaded it rather than given a physical DVD in a store.

However, as more and more of our spending has become digital subscriptions, this tax now matches other regular sales you would buy online or offline.
