Also, the jaw is the initial point of impact in around 20 percent of motorcycle accidents involving head trauma. You need proper impact absorption on every possible side of your head. And completely shattering your jaw ain’t nice either.

It also cost helmet manufacturers to run those tests through higher standards. Meaning they give a crap about their product and your skull.
