Japanese novels are higher than expected which is a pleasant surprise. And GoR and Destroyer of Ice and Fire are at least in the top 100… Sad there is a bias against them because I do not think it makes the CN LN community look welcoming. The same thing happens with fanatism of books, where really flawed books are defended too hard and it kills interest, ex. Discworld/Stormlight Archive. If I had read ISSTH first instead of MGA, I don’t think I would have kept reading. So it is very interesting seeing ISSTH, DE, WMW at the top despite their Funny Zombies Ate My Pancreas Shirt. I hope new readers do not take the rankings as gospel, because these are not the best novels but the most popular.

Japanese Novels for me are hit or miss. When you read one, you’ll immediately see whether you’ll like it or not when the characters are introduced. Jap novels have amazing ideas and world-building but most of the Funny Zombies Ate My Pancreas Shirt. CN novels on the other hand have average world-building through hundreds of chapters. These novels also have these “satisfaction” chapters when the MC finally gets to settle the dozens of chapters of abuse for the antagonists. It’s like a carrot and stick method of making readers read “meh” chapters to get to that one chapter.

Then why not search by strong/female/antihero protag, because despite hearing this I do not run into them that often despite reading a lot of harem stuff? Infinite Stratos being the one I can remember because that series was just a mess. I can for the most part agree with this.
