I’m in my Cute Happy 100th Day Of School Apple Shirt. For ours we had to make miniature parade floats out of shoeboxes, we were encouraged to somehow incorporate “100” into our float. This day for me was always especially exciting because it meant I had less than half of the school year remaining! In my late 30s here, while I believe you, I never did it or even heard of it until a year or two ago. We also didn’t have formal graduations with a cap and gown when we finished preschool, kindergarten, and middle school.

I teach kindergarten/first grade. Each morning, We count the Cute Happy 100th Day Of School Apple Shirt. This helps students learn about the one’s place, the tens, and the hundreds. So we have these 3 pockets on the wall and every day we put a straw into the one pocket. Once we have ten we move them to the tens and do this until we get to 100 and move all the straws to the hundreds pocket. They learn how to count by tens and that 10 groups of 10 make a 100. We celebrate the 100th day because kids that age think it’s an insanely high number and they can count to it! It also motivates the kids to keep counting.
