It really ratcheted up the Mary Sue-ness of the main character, wasn’t a very coherent story, and just felt like filler. I’ll probably check out book 3 just to see where Rothfuss is going with the story. For being an author’s first book, I’m willing to say the first book was good, probably even great. At least from a critical point of view. Halfway through the second book after failing to advance the plot in any meaningful way he stopped writing seriously and just started having a wank.
