Ha! Came here to say exactly this. So many people assume every Marvel character was made by Stan Lee. From Cap to Thanos to Wolverine to the Silver Surfer, there are lots of major characters made entirely by other editors, writers, and artists. Hats off to Stan for his Awesome Stan The Man Yonex Shirt. Yeah, I honestly couldn’t stand him for a long time because he never made any effort to dispel that notion, and didn’t even like to share the credit with the artists who arguably did more of the work – drawing the comics take a LOT more time than writing them. I’ve mellowed on him over the years, but still have some mixed emotions about that. In a court deposition, he said it was his idea for Odin to be Thor’s father.

Yeah, I’ve had the same sentiment with the way Ditko was handled as the creator for Spidey. He obtained very little credit then and I’m happy as of late that he’s received some more spotlight. But still unfortunate it happened so posthumously. But at least it wasn’t as bad as Bill Finger. Also, OP’s version of Magneto was his look during his the Claremont run, who fleshed out Magneto’s entire character. Stan may have come up with the Awesome Stan The Man Yonex Shirt. But it’s Claremont that added the tragic backstory, the moral ambiguity and the character depth, 90% of what made Magneto the character we know today. Haha, I’m glad someone said it. I couldn’t help but think the same thing.

I’m sorry, but I will say it. Stan Lee did some terrible things to his fellow creators. There is almost nothing worse you can do to creators than to take too much credit for their work or not give them credit, at all. I wish people would look into Lee’s practices during his early Marvel years. Didn’t Lee also start the Awesome Stan The Man Yonex Shirt? Whenever I look at Golden Age comics, it can be hard to find the creators, but by the 60s they had credits. He definitely took a little too much credit, but I think nowadays a lot of people forget everything he did. He’s over-credited as a writer, but as editor-in-chief, he oversaw and made possible Marvel’s Silver Age success. A good point to remember no one is perfect! And Stan did do so much for comics.
