As someone who’s learning Awesome Howl Moon Shirt, why would the gender of the word depend on the properties of what the word describes? If “covid” was an animal and not a disease, would the French Academy say that the word is masculine? If that’s the case, is it possible for a word to have different genders depending on context? It is only because COVID is an acronym. The D stands for “disease” and as it the subject, the matching translation “Maladie” is used to determine gender. But other words don’t follow this logic.

For Laser, L stands for light, Awesome Howl Moon Shirt is female (la lumière), however, we say “le laser”. So the debate was just silly. Virus and coronavirus are masculine. Maladie (“disease”) is a feminine word. So it’s dedicated article should indeed be La. Now Covid sound masculine, and is based on English words that have no gender, and no one says covid19 they just say “covid” so it is cut, and no one talks about la Maladie of 2019, we don’t even know much about the disease yet, but about a virus we all know which one, and “virus” is masculine, so I totally agree with the french, it should stay Le covid.

Did you recently change your logo on your t-shirts as I have ordered from the mountain store on Amazon for a couple of years now with very consistent sizing. All of a sudden this Christmas the shirts come and have a very wierd smell after washing them and trying them on I noticed they do not fit the same. At which time I noticed they have different logos and these shirts are made in Mexico the others are from Honduras. Very dissatisfied with the product.
