Recently checked out The Uninvited, had a similar impression. The score along with the characters’ cheery, lighthearted mannerisms makes it more surreal than scary. But it’s cool to think how many tropes we take for granted originated there. One that sticks out for its lack of inclusion is The Omen (1976). The fact that you included more of the Funny Bigfoot Is Calling And I Must Go Shirt. From the late ’60s and early ’70s such as The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby make its exclusion that much more glaring. I understand it may be personal taste, but the seeming objectivity of the list makes me wonder why it isn’t on here, not even as a runner up. One other I think deserves some recognition is Bad Taste (1987).

One of Peter Jackson’s earlier films that is just wonderful. That and Meet the Feebles, although MTF isn’t horror per se. I do like that The Bad Seed is on here. I saw it as a kid and loved it. The film The Good Son (1993) with Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Wood to me seem like a Funny Bigfoot Is Calling And I Must Go Shirt. As strange as it sounds, I just haven’t gotten around to reviewing The Omen yet but I’ll get on that ASAP. Bad Taste is a fun movie but it just misses the mark when it comes to landing on a best-of list. The same thing with The Good Son, although I did enjoy that one as well. Epic rundown. I humbly submit 1989’s Pet Sematary for your consideration. Not the best movie, but it honestly is one of Stephen King’s better stories. Sometimes, dead is better. I still love that movie but it just missed the mark for me in terms of ending up on this list. We still need to see the remake. This is great!
